The final result is significantly complex yet balanced with a finish that lasts nearly as long as its legacy.

OLIVA

The Oliva Cigar story began in the late 1800s, when Melanio Oliva started growing cigar tobacco in Cuba. His heirs carried on the family tradition in the fields, but it was his grandson Gilberto Oliva Sr. who began making cigars. 

Nicaraguan tobacco helped Oliva survive. The cigar that brought it to the attention of connoisseurs debuted in 2006: Oliva Serie V. Made by a small group of rollers and blended for strength and style, the Serie V line was an immediate hit. In 2012, to pay tribute to the first man in the family to grow cigar tobacco, Oliva added the Melanio version, which is distinguished from the original by its Sumatra-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. The No. 1 Cigar of the Year 2014, Oliva Serie V Melanio Figuarado has rich, big notes of leather framed by a range of coffee, caramel and woody intonations. It’s a classic smoke.

SERIE O 

Serie O is a Puro. Made in the original tradition of growing popular seeds in diverse regions of the country to produce a distinct blend. This blend was achieved by growing their seeds in Esteli, Condega and Jalapa Valley.

Only 3000 boxes have been created. 

In October 2021 Oliva celebrated 135 years in the tobacco business and marked its long history with this limited edition Serie V Perfecto.

These commemorative cigars measure 5 1/2 x 54 and are presented in an eye-catching 12 count box with a fanned out display. Like the rest of the Olive Serie V range, these cigars are made in Nicaragua at the Tabolisa factory and are the same complex blend of Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos, blended with fermented Jalapa Valley Ligero and finished with a high priming Sun Grown wrapper.

In 2019, Oliva Cigars opened his new state of the art production facility in Tabolisa Uno to create healthier working conditions , improve quality control and boos productivity. To celebrate this momentous event, Oliva is introducing a  limited edition replica box to look just like this new beautiful factory. Every box contain 10 Oliva Serie V Double Robusto Cigars, each resting on his own wooden box which make up the windows and doors of the replica factory. Only 1000 boxes were made.

Melanio Oliva cultivated his first tobacco crop in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba in 1886. His growing operations were suspended while he fought in the Cuban War of Independence. After returning from the war, Melanio resumed his tobacco growing operations.

Today Gilberto along with his family are Nicaragua’s second largest grower of Cuban-seed tobac­co. Using these same time tested methods of curing, blending, and rolling that built an empire, the Oliva cigar lineup has garnered tons of top- ratings from industry experts and consumers alike

*It’s not as if the Oliva Serie V Melanio needed improvement. With its Sumatra-seed wrapper and bold blend of Nicaraguan tobacco, the cigar was already a complex smoke that was both critically and commercially successful. This didn’t stop Oliva from taking it to the next level, which it did when it came out with the same cigar in a maduro version. Changing the Sumatra wrapper to a dark leaf of Mexican San Andrés turned an already extraordinary cigar into an absolute blockbuster.

The Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro Churchill is powered by its core of Nicaraguan tobacco but the Mexican cover leaf adds a new dimension resulting in a complete work of balance and substance.

The cigar is made in Nicaragua at Oliva’s Tabolisa factory and shows a luxurious procession of rich, regal character starting with notes of German chocolate cake that segue into a smoke of baking spices, malted chocolate and lively, cedary accents. Polished and precise, the large Churchill is a bit of a commitment, but we urge you to take that time.
