The final result is significantly complex yet balanced with a finish that lasts nearly as long as its legacy.

Translated to English, “Liga Privada” means “private blend.” It is the perfect name, as this cigar was originally crafted not for resale, but for the personal humidors of Drew Estate. Dozens of intricate blends were created, but No. 9 was flawless in both flavour and character. Seven different tobaccos from seven distinct vegas are included. The wrapper is hand fermented for 18+ months & no sweat is allowed. Only four pairs within the Drew Estate factory are certified to produce these cigars & each pair is allowed to craft only 250 cigars per day. The cigars are then aged for a full year before being offered for sale.

Rich, complex and full bodied without being harsh, this amazing vitola is best described in one word: satisfying. Lush, earthy and espresso like with an incredibly dense body.

Drew Estate Undercrown Maduro Robusto

In early 2009 Drew Estate asked their torcedores to smoke less Liga Privada cigars because they were leaving too few to be exported. This request was met with the disappointment you would expect, but rather than being disgruntled they responded by blending their own signature liga. Incorporating many of the same rare tobaccos, but of different vintages and primings, the cigar they created was no mere replacement. Rather it is an exceptional smoking experience of uncompromising quality and flavour that deserves to be smoked by all.

Lush, smooth and creamy with a natural inherent sweetness, these cigars are refined and balanced with excellent depth.

Another new Encore release, Edición Unica, wears a lighter-colored Nicaraguan wrapper, while the binder is also Nicaraguan and the filler contains Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco. The tobacco is said to be well-aged, with the wrapper being at least five years old, while the binder and filler are said to be at least 10 years old.

It is debuting in a 6 x 56 toro gordo size that the company calls Solidarios. It is limited to 1,500 boxes of 10 cigars, all of which are destined for retailers outside of the United States.

After the critically acclaimed La Historia, Ernesto had to do it again and Encore was the only way. The second part of the series of cigars, Encore is the master's way of having another great performance for all to enjoy. We wach have an encore in us and rise to the challenge when requested, just like the master Ernesto Perez-Carrillo.

Encore is described by Ernesto as his biggest achievement. The zesty, spicy and woody cigar tantalizes the smokers palate. One is left with the lasting creamy finish with a rich aromatic profile that truly delights the senses.

Encore Noir, which bears a resemblance to the recently released Encore Black. This cigar uses an Ecuadorian wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. It is offered in a single robusto vitola that measures 5 3/8 x 52 and is called the Majestic No. 2. Production is limited to 3,000 boxes of 10 cigars per year, with 2,500 shipping to international markets and the remaining 500 being used for in-store retail events in the U.S. when Jorge Fernandez Maique of E.P. Carrillo is in attendance.

The Oliva Cigar story began in the late 1800s, when Melanio Oliva started growing cigar tobacco in Cuba. His heirs carried on the family tradition in the fields, but it was his grandson Gilberto Oliva Sr. who began making cigars. 

Nicaraguan tobacco helped Oliva survive. The cigar that brought it to the attention of connoisseurs debuted in 2006: Oliva Serie V. Made by a small group of rollers and blended for strength and style, the Serie V line was an immediate hit. In 2012, to pay tribute to the first man in the family to grow cigar tobacco, Oliva added the Melanio version, which is distinguished from the original by its Sumatra-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. The No. 1 Cigar of the Year 2014, Oliva Serie V Melanio Figuarado has rich, big notes of leather framed by a range of coffee, caramel and woody intonations. It’s a classic smoke.

SERIE O 

Serie O is a Puro. Made in the original tradition of growing popular seeds in diverse regions of the country to produce a distinct blend. This blend was achieved by growing their seeds in Esteli, Condega and Jalapa Valley.

This flavourful blend exhibits complex tobacco with rich coffee and dark chocolate tones. A subtle and well balanced spice is present throughout.

The Oliva Serie V is a complex blend of Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos, blended with specially fermented Jalapa valley ligero, and finished with a high priming Habano Sun Grown wrapper. The cigar is blended to deliver a full bodied taste while maintaining unparalleled smoothness.
This flavourful blend exhibits complexity that is subtle, smooth and well balanced throughout this monumental gem from Oliva. 

*It’s not as if the Oliva Serie V Melanio needed improvement. With its Sumatra-seed wrapper and bold blend of Nicaraguan tobacco, the cigar was already a complex smoke that was both critically and commercially successful. This didn’t stop Oliva from taking it to the next level, which it did when it came out with the same cigar in a maduro version. Changing the Sumatra wrapper to a dark leaf of Mexican San Andrés turned an already extraordinary cigar into an absolute blockbuster.

The Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro Churchill is powered by its core of Nicaraguan tobacco but the Mexican cover leaf adds a new dimension resulting in a complete work of balance and substance.

The cigar is made in Nicaragua at Oliva’s Tabolisa factory and shows a luxurious procession of rich, regal character starting with notes of German chocolate cake that segue into a smoke of baking spices, malted chocolate and lively, cedary accents. Polished and precise, the large Churchill is a bit of a commitment, but we urge you to take that time.

Since purchasing the company in 2016, Belgian owner J. Cortès has proven to be a worthy, respectful steward of the brand, maintaining the high standards that continue to put Oliva on the Top 25 list year after year.
