Partagas Linea Maestra Rito
Línea Maestra is a premium extension to the Partagas range in the same way that Behike was for Cohiba in 2010, Línea 1935 for Montecristo in 2017 and Línea de Oro for Romeo y Julieta in 2020. It is the second addition following the introduction of the Partagas Línea Maduro in 2018.
The three new sizes which make up the Linea Maestra are Origen, Rito and Maestro. All are unique within the Habanos portfolio and have been crafted with a Cabeza Tumbada or ‘dropped head, a style often referred to as a ‘109’ due to Partagas 109 cigars rolled with the same finish included in commemorative branded humidors in the past. This traditional style of finishing was last seen on the Ramon Allones Hunters & Frankau Anniversario 225, a special release in 2015 to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the company.
For the first time in the history of the brand and the Habanos, S.A. portfolio, all the tobacco for the new Línea comes exclusively from the San Luis region of Pinar del Río, Cuba. This gives them a special aromatic complexity without losing the brand’s unique character and blend and are classified as full bodied like the rest of the portfolio. The Línea Maestra range is presented in striking blue lacquered boxes containing 20 cigars. Each cigar is dressed with a unique blue band sporting the name of the vitola as well as an additional foot band.

Hoyo de Monterrey Primavera Year of the Ox
The Hoyo de Monterrey Primavera celebrates the 2021 Chinese New Year and is available in very limited quantities. It is only the second time a cigar has been released by Habanos s.a. to commemorate the festivities and follows the popular Romeo y Julieta Maravillas 8 in 2020 (Year of the Rat).

Hoyo de Monterrey is a light bodied Habanos brand named after a plantation in San Juan y Martínez in the heart of Vuelta Abajo. It remains one of the most famous Vegas de Primera to this day (first class tobacco fields) where somewhat fittingly for this cigar is still ploughed by oxen to this day so as not to compact the top-soil.

Romeo y Julieta Maravilla - Year of the Rat 2020
Romeo y Julieta has released a special one-off cigar to celebrate the 2020 Chinese New Year/Spring Festival.
Themed to honour the incoming Year of the Rat, eight Maravillas 8 cigars are presented in a bespoke red lacquered box. Each cigar dressed is with a classic Romeo y Julieta band as well as an additional foot band. A branded red velvet sleeve completes the presentation.
Each cigar measures 6 1/8” (155mm) x 55 ring gauge and is referred to as a Maravillas No.3 in the factories of Cuba, sharing its dimensions with the extremely popular Montecristo 520 (2012 Edición Limitada).
As the number eight is considered an auspicious or ‘lucky’ number in Chinese culture, the Romeo y Julieta Maravilla 8 is sure to appeal directly to cigar enthusiasts from this part of the world, as well as collectors globally.
The cigar is a Maravilla No.3 vitola, the same as the Montecristo 520 2012 Limited Edition cigar, and are adorned with a second band on the foot featuring an image of a rat. A large vitola, this provides a long, enjoyable smoke.
The cigar was launched at two separate events at The Kerry Hotel in Hong Kong on 13th & 14th November and is now available worldwide. However, quantities are very limited and initial demand has been high so they may not be found on the shelves of UK cigar merchants for very long.
With Romeo y Julieta's balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, the brand is the classic medium bodied Habano. The Maravilla has great complexity to the flavour producing a beautiful white smoke. The wrappers used are stunning, and silky smooth, and the strength builds to medium full in the last third.
